I always look forward to the weekend. It’s a time to relax, it’s the time when all the Church activities happen… This weekend is a little different. It’s the GBU weekend for the Mediterranean region, so it will be a time of intense French-speaking, and experiencing another French church. Which is in no way a bad thing. It just means I’ll be exhausted come Sunday evening.
Last time I was on a GBU weekend away, it struck me just how different GBU and CU are. So I’m not going to go into that again.
Instead I’ll focus on what I hope to get to know:
- Some more French! I like to think this year abroad is teaching me something, and spending a weekend with French people is definitely going to be useful
- Some more about God! Through DABs and workshops (not to mention the service on Sunday) I should be able to learn more about God and how I can apply that to how I live
- Some more people! Whilst I often find getting to know new people quite difficult, I love that through this weekend I can get to know people with whom I have one thing in common: That we all know that we are loved and saved by God.
